SOUTH WALES haulier HC Herbert & Sons (Maesteg) is to be wound up after struggling financially for several years.

The firm, which ran 10 vehicles and 10 trailers from a site in Maesteg, near Bridgend, appointed liquidator Timothy Heaselgrave of Greenfield Recovery on 9 October.

The firm's most recent set of accounts for the year ended 31 March 2012 showed it had been struggling for some time. In the report, the directors said they would continue to support the company in what they called a "difficult economic time", despite negative shareholder funds of more than £350,000.

The liquidator's statement of company affairs showed the haulier owed unsecured creditors £422,772 on 8 October, including £66,462 to HMRC.

The liquidator was unavailable for comment.
