• Rob Swindells is to stay on as president of the trade group Transfrigoroute, despite saying he would quit last week. Swindells, who is sales director of refrigerated operator Langdon Industries, was persuaded to continue this month when no-one else was proposed for the post at Transfrigoroute's annual general meeting. He had earlier said he was to resign as the group's president because he had completed three years in the post: the usual term is two years. Swindells denied that his resignation was connected with the trial of 19 Langdon staff earlier this month. A director, a manager and 17 drivers were fined £8,925 with costs for 109 false tachograph record-related offences.

There was no suggestion that

Swindells Or Langdon Industries were involved in unlawful activity.
