• Hauliers have won increased transit rights through Austria and Switzerland.
Austria is issuing 1.3 million permits for EC operators while Switzerland will allow unrestricted transit for lorries up to 28 tonnes, as well as accepting 50 trucks a day up to 38 tonnes — provided they are carrying perishable goods; are under two-years-old; and only if the railways are full.
