Norman Cassidy has become a partner in his brother-in-law's haulage firm, Nedu Trucking. Cassidy has taken a 25% share in the Essex-based six-truck firm and becomes finance director.
He has spent nearly 30 years in transport, starting out as an engineering apprentice at the now defunct Manchester-based manufacturer Thorneycroft Vehicles.
Most recently Cassidy worked as a freelance consultant, helping firms gain BS5750 accreditation, including Bibby Distribution and Cheshirebased haulier WP Twibell and Sons.
Before this he spent about a year at Hoyer as its technical manager, after about eight years at Tankfreight, where he joined as a sales representative and progressed to general manager at the Manchester depot.
Cassidy joined partner John Ende, who owns 75% of the international operator, last week. He now hopes to help Nedu Trucking gain BS5750.
The Harwich-based firm is planning to buy a larger site in the area and take on an extra truck.
