TRANSPORT and General Workers' Union leaders are reported to have pleaded with Blackpool bus and tram workers to call off a strike so that TUC delegates and officials would not have to use their legs as wel as their tongues during Congress. Meanwhile, ranting delegates were calling down hellfire and damnation on the Government for trying to curb irresponsible action of the kinc that threatened their comfort.
Blackpool residents, who provide the transport workers with well-paid employment all the year round, could walk — and like it.
