GEORGE McKAY is the new president of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers. Mr McKay, who retires this month as the National Bus Company's director of technical services, was installed in the post at the Institute's agm.

He joined the industry 48 years ago as a premium apprentice and worked his way up to become chairman of the then Eastern Region of NBC in 1969, taking up his present post in 1970.

Mr McKay has held a number of important posts includ ing the chairmanship of the National Council for the Omnibus Industry in 1969.

Other new members of the Institute's council announced at the agm are : D. A. Cox, D. Grimster, J. D. Savage, B. D. Wiggins, J. E. Farley, D. F. Carter, J. Collings, A. Almond, C. Lee, W. P. Hunter, C. R. Stephenson and A. R. Bagnall.

The new vice-president is R. W. Ladbrooke, and W. V. Batstone and F. M. Pickering become hon advisory officers. R. D. Owen remains secretary and B. L. Veale treasurer.
