• The fares revision application by the North Western Car Co. Ltd., in Buxton, on September 30. before the Traffic Commissioners for the North Western and East Midland Traffic Areas was granted in a written decision last week by the Chairman of the Commissioners. Mr. C. R. Hodgson.

Mr. Hodgson said that if the other operating subsidiaries of the National Bus Company were not allowed an operating surplus than the NBC would be unable to meet its financial obligation to operate commercially. The view of the Commissioners was that it was not unreasonable for North Western to seek an additional return of 9.7 per cent on capital employed in its business. The yield from this increase would be £114,000 which would still be E37,800 short of the increased expenses of £151.800. The deficit would be met by economies.
