• Coventry is considering setting up a new competition to find the "Bus driver of the Midlands". CIIr. K. A. Whitehouse, chairman of the transport and highways committee, announced the plans after the annual Coventry Bus Driver of the Year competition on September 30. He said that they were going to test the opinions of other local authorities in the Midlands, as he thought it was a good thing to use competitions of that nature to improve road safety standards. He hoped that private companies from the Midlands would also want to join in.
Coventry's Bus Driver of 1969 is an Irishman, Mr. David Dunne. He has been in the department for 15 years and drives a oneman Daimler Fleetline double-decker.
