AN application for an express service linking Birstall, Leics, and Leicester City football ground was made last week, by J. Smith, 'Abbey Lane, Leicester. There was an objection by the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., who claimed that existing facilities for football supporters were adequate.

Mr. G. H. Smith, a partner in the coach concern, said Birstall people bad difficulty in reaching the ground when Leicester City were playing at home. Smith's proposed to run one or two single deckers according to the demand.

GLASGOW WANTS TO END AMBER LIGHTS

PROTOTYPE traffic signals using only red and green lights will be introduced in Glasgow as an experiment if the Scottish Home Department agrees to a suggestion by Glasgow Traffic Committee. The committee have suggested that amber lights should be abolished because of the number of accidents caused by drivers "

jumping" amber signals.

A police report which the committee considered showed that several buses had been involved in accidents through the drivers anticipating the green light.

ACTION AFTER 30 YEARS

riA ROAD scheme which was first discussed 30 years ago and was then held up by the war is now being considered again by Somerset County Council.

They are preparing plans for a by-pass at Keynsham, Bristol, which would have dual-carriageways.
