EVERY move to restrict the vehicle operator's freedom of choice will be fought by the Traders' Road Transport Association, said Mr. J. R..Hilton, chairman, at last week's annual dinner of the T.R.T.A. Hull and East Riding Division.
Mr. Hilton pointed out that in that particular area there were problems which did not exist elsewhere—in particular, level, crossings on every Main road from Hull and a river without a bridge on one side of it. If these difficulties could be eliminated new industries would be attracted and there would be an end to the fear of unemployment.
Mr. R. E. Patterson said membership of the association in Hull represented only a sixth of local C-licensees. In view of possible events the T.R.T.A. needed bigger support.
