Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ACHIEVING qualifications such as the Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) and certification under the Road Traffic (Training of Drivers Carrying Dangerous Goods) Regulations 1992 could qualify for funding from TECs and LECs, thanks to a recent ruling by the RHDTC.

This also means that those who are registered as working towards achieving National/Scottish Vocational Qualifications (N/SVQs) will be able to use these 'free standing' qualifications as evidence of having at least part of the industry-specific knowledge needed to be granted an N/SVQ.

Other legislation-based training and qualifications which could also be used as evidence of having the 'underpinning knowledge' of the industry required before an N/SVQ can be granted could include a vocational driving licence and knowledge of regulations concerning: * food hygiene * livestock transportation * health and safety * waste management and control * temperature controlled operations *drivers' hours "The RHDTC accepts that legislation-based, free-standing qualifications complement the N/SVQ system and, therefore, form a cohesive part of that system," commented the RHDTC's chief executive, David Scott. "Since all these qualifications are part of the same framework, they must be recognised as such, within the operational context, in respect of the ap plication of occupational standards."

Employers and training providers wanting further information on TEC/LEC funding arrangements in support of these legislation-based qualifications should, in the first instance, contact their local TEC/LEC.
