The existing 213 and 243kW 185 and 325hp) engine options rrently used in the 30.291 id 30.331 eight-wheelers will e carried over into the new x4 rigids. MAN, however, is kely to replace the ageing 77kW (23'7hp) 12-litre engined 0.240 variant with a new mdel fitted with the latest 91kW (2664) five-cylinder 12865LF 10-litre engine which not only more powerful but develops significantly greater torque at 1,100Nm (8111bft).

The charge-cooled D2865LF is already fitted in the new 17.262 and 22.262 lightweight tractive units for 32/38-tonne

GVW operations revealed exclusively by Commercial Motor (15 September, 1988).

The same engine is also expected to be used in the 6x4 F90 rigid.
