Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Ingersoll-Rand Sales Co and Bendix have agreed on the distribution of Ingeroll-Rand air starters in the UK. The deal brings together the retro-fit expertise of Bendix in the fleet truck market and the technology of Ingersoll-Rand air starters.

Through the company's extensive network in the UK, Bendix will sell Ingersoll-Rand air starters. Dave Thompson, UK sales manager of IngersollRand Professional Tool Group, comments: "Bendix is the ideal company to handle our range of air starters. Our new relationship is based on the engineering know-how of Ingersoll-Rand and the wide experience Bendix has in the commercial vehicle market."

Bendix pioneered the retrofitting of anti-lock brake sys tems to heavy vehicle fleets and manufactures in the Midlands. James Amos, aftennarket director of Bendix Heavy Vehicle Systems Division, says: "We see Ingersoll-Rand air starters as a natural complement to the comprehensive range of Bendix air-brake equipment. Ingersoll-Rand air starting systems have an integ ral air receiver which is supplied from the same compressor which feeds the air brake system. Our new agreement is aimed first at expanding sales through the retro-fit market, but this could expand into the OE market over the next few years."

Ingersoll-Rand's air starting systems for diesel engines of capacities from 2.5 litres upwards, are capable of starting diesels at temperatures as low as –20QC.

Ingersoll-Rand's latest developments in air starter technology are the SS350 and SS175 Series of starter motors. The performance of these under cold conditions has been widely tested in the US, where around half the trucks and 10% of the buses use air starter motors.
