• Two more companies are competing to provide local bu: services in Sheffield.
The introduction of these two services brings the number of new operators in Sheffield since deregulation to ten.
One newcomer is Andrew's based in the steel city, hither' an HGV and PSV training con pany. It has started a commei cial service between Rotherham and Totley in Shei field using two buses, formerl operated as driver trainers.
The hourly service is worked by the two vehicles, one o which was the last AEC Regent built. This 1968 vehicle operates with a conductor and wears the colours of Douglas Corporation Transport, with the second bus being a more conventional Daimler Fleetline Two more double-deckers have been purchased recently.
The other operator is Nord ern Bus Company of Dinnington which has run the Dinning ton route from Sheffield since changing its identity from Wig more's of Dinnington. Expansion in the north of Sheffield has generated a four-vehicle tendered network around Hillsborough.
NBC has acquired two Mer cedes StarRiders and three secondhand Bristol LHs and expects two of the new Daf Deltas in the New Year.
