• Alongside the glamour and bright lights of the new vehicles, this year's Birmingham Motor Show also contained plenty of interesting exhibits by component manufacturers and suppliers of workshop equipment. From the original equipment manufacturers, Lipe showed its complete range of heavyduty clutches, including a number of new designs. Notable was the 15/380-2LP clutch, a twin-plate model that is fitted to Seddon Atkinson, ERF and Foden vehicles. Suitable as a replacement for 3 94mm (151/2in) clutches, or as a direct interchange for metric 380 single and twin-push applications, the 15/380-2LP has a torque capacity of 1,4902,170Nm. Lipe claims that this model is both easy to install (owing to the modular design) and quick to adjust.

Automotive Trade Awards for the second consecutive year — a unique achievement.

Among its range of over 3,000 products there were some recent additions on show at the NEC. Two new circuit testers were displayed, and are suitable for all kinds of vehicle. Of note in this increasingly electronic age is that the testers are "computer safe", and can be used on electronic control systems without the danger of damaging the circuitry.

Also new were two cylinder hones, with one suitable for smaller diameter applications (including brake and clutch cylinders), and the other designed for larger engine cylinders on cars, vans and trucks. The hones can be used with electric drills and air tools, and are suitable for honing, deglazing and ridge removal.
