Frank Ormerod, general manager of the Motec at High Frcall, has probably done as much as anyone to break down hostility to the Road Transport Industry Training Board. He has charmed hardbitten hauliers by, among other things, allowing Road Haulage Association functions to be held in the training centre and they will miss him when he retires at the end of the year.
It was typical of him to go to some trouble to find me a pair of size 101/2 wellies to wear as I plodded around the huge site on a wet day. Like many others, I wish him a happy retirement and dry feet.
