• Bobby Heaton, managing director of Heatons Transport, has become the 24th chairman of the RHA (see page 22). Barry Hempsall, who recently sold his tipping business, has been re-elected vice chairman; Pat Lee of Wincanton Distribution Services has also become a vice-chairman.
Heaton believes that the big issues facing the industry over the next two years will be the environment and BS5750 which, he says, the RIIA will eventually apply for.
"I would like to see the industry protected, but by better enforcement," says Heaton. "Life should be made difficult for those who break the law for a fast buck."
