• The new cheaper heavy goods vehicle driver test will come into force on July 1, Transport Secretary Nicholas Ridley has announced.
He told MPs that after consultations with truck and bus operators it has been decided to have a common test time of 90 minutes and a common fee of £40.
This figure would save the freight industry about 1:1 million a year.
