KEEPING TRACKS
• A vehicle performanc monitoring system, first devised for the Transport and Road Research Laboratory, i now available to transport operators and vehicle manufac turers.
Known as Tracker, the sy5_ tern was developed by DM England and Partners of Woodley in Berkshire. Tracker monitors a vehicle's iormance through a series sensors. On the basic
acker unit, up to four sen-s can be monitored at any time; but for higher spedition models, as many as 12
ferent sensors can be monied.
The system is designed to for long periods of time .hout operator attention, and 1 operate in fairly harsh conions (-20°C to +55°C). Measurements can be disyed quickly, whether in nted form or on a visual disy unit.
A Tracker such as the one by the TRRL costs beeen £4,500 and £5,000 from 4 England. More involved ackers, developed specifily for an individual cusner's needs, will cost rather we.
