• The Scottish Bus Group made a 26.1 million profit last year, 2300,000 more than the target agreed with the Scottish Office.
The Scottish Transport Group's annual report, published last week, shows that passenger traffic on SBG's services has recovered since the miners' strike from 311.3 million in 1984 to 312.9 million. Turnover is up from 2144.8 million to 256.3 million.
It reports stiff competition on its express services, although it managed to increase business. Express profit margins have been squeezed.
Until the end of last year, SB(; was operating to a 4.5% Government target for its return on net assets. For the next five years, it is 4%
