• Woking District Council is planning to replace more than 50% of its vehicle fleet with vehicles supplied on contract hire by Transfleet Services.
Under the contract agreed with Transfleet Services, Woking will be supplied with 60 vehicles, including refuse collectors, #.,rulley and cesspool emptiers, tractors, welfare vehicles, pick-ups, car-derived vans and forklift trucks.
Transfleet will rent the vehicle maintenance workshop from the Council at an agreed commercial rate to provide maintenance facilities for the fleet.
The contract starts on July 1, and Woking expects to save several hundred thousand pounds in revenue without a reduction in services by more efficient vehicle use and a reduction in the number of spare vehicles.
