Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN ITS ANNUAL report for 1979 the Road Haulage Association shows a balance of £425,405. This is a surplus over 1978 of £15,045.

Membership does not show the same rate of growth but remains at about 15,000. The assets which cost £322,784 are valued at £700,000 by the directors.

Membership fees contributed over £329,000 of which £55,000 was paid by the Metropolitan &. South East Area. The North West contributed £43,000; West Midlands £35,000; East Midlands £28,000; Scotland £25,000; Eastern £23,000; Northern £22,000; Southern £19,000; Western £19,000: South Wales £14,000; Devon and Cornwall E.8,000. The three Yorkshire area aggregated E32,000.

Eight of the areas made a trading loss varying from £5,500 in Scotland to £27 in South Wales. The West Midlands showed a healthy profit of £13,638.
