WARNING that mainmance in the open would ot be acceptable in the ,astern traffic area came -om the deputy LA, Mr erald Kidner, last week.
Mr Kidner was hearing a ection 69 case at Peterorough into the five-vehicle eet of Peter N. Patrick of towbridge, King's Lynn, lho said that since moving ) new premises 18 months go he had dispensed with ommercial garages and ow carried out his own iaintenance.
During questioning by the eputy LA Mr Patrick greed with a report made by vehicle examiner who had iid his premises and facilies were unsuitable, but .ated that the examiner had ot been able to find any wits with his vehicles or !cords when he had called, : was intended that a worklop would be built as soon as planning permission was given.
Referring to GV9s imposed on a tractive unit and trailer at "Bristol Mr Kidner said the examiner, who had since died, had taken a very serious view of the faults indicated. However, in view of Mr Patrick's evidence he would take a middle course.
After an adjournment, the solicitor for Mr Patrick said be would give an undertaking that the fleet would be maintained by a reputable garage until such time as the workshop at Patrick's yard was built. '
Accepting this, Mr Kidner said there had been only the one series of GV9s all stemming from the same incident and a fleet inspection had proved satisfactory. He would make no direction on the licence in view of the undertaking given. On an application to add one trailer he deferred his decision.
