LORD MASSEREENE and Perrard, Conservative peer, is to ask the Government in the House of Lords next month why the ferry charges for a lorry are 12 times as great as for a car with caravan, when the deck space occupied is identical, on Macbraynes' shipping services to the Isle of Mull.
He is also to ask whether the Government realises that the ever-increasing transport costs in the Hebrides, culminating in the recent 25 per cent increases in the charges of Macbraynes a Government monopoly are "exerting an economic stranglehold on the resident population."
