Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A latex foam sealant for mending and re-inflating punctured tyres has been developed by a Dutch company and is to be distributed in the UK by Lloyds Industries (Automotive) Ltd., Handforth, Cheshire.

Marketed under the trade name Finilec in • an aerosol container, the white foam is fed into the tyre via a nozzle fitted to a small tube which is screwed on to the tyre valve. By depressing the stopper the tyre can be filled in approximately 2min and the rubber coagulates at the point of puncture to seal the hole. After a few hours' driving, due to centrifugal force the foam compresses and an elastic film is deposited on to the inner surface of the tyre, giving additional internal reinforcement.

The high pressure created by the aerosol brings the tyre up to a suitable pressure for driving. However, after a few miles pressure must be reduced since the increase in pressure of a foam-filled tyre is greater than a normal air-filled one.

Suitable for all sizes of tyres up to 80015, the 18oz can retails at 27s 6d. There is a 12oz container for small-van tyres at 19s 11d. Now obtainable from garages and accessory shops in the North West, it is hoped that within three months Finilec will be available nationally and also a twin-aerosol developed especially for heavier commercials will been the market. Made by: Finichemie (Great Britain) Ltd., 55 Bishopsgate. London, EC2.
