AUSEFUL tractor appliance for work in quarries, tipping grounds and on the road in connection with tramway construction and reconstruction is the Tructractor, which is made by Millers' Machinery Co., Ltd., of Pinners' Hall, London, E.C.2, the works of the company being at Bishop's Stortford.

The •Tructractor is three-wheeled, a 16 h.p. petrol engine driving the two rear wheels, pivotal steering being protided for the front Wheel, and the whole being of very sturdy construction. • This tractor is claimed to be able to pull 15 tons on the level, to carry its load, up a gradient of 1 in 7 under its own power, to turn in a circle with 1111 outside radius of 10 ft., to travel at 12 m.p.h. and to go where a horse and cart .or ordinary fourwheeled lorry would be .unable to go. Approximately the chassis weighs 30 cwt., and it can be equipped with a wooden body either of the platform type or high-sided, a metal body with hinged end-gates, with interchangeable platforms, or with end-tipping hopper of a capacity of 30 Cu. ft., which can be used for the quick transportation of dry or wet materials, such as Sand, concrete, gravel, hard core, hot' asphalt, coal. ashes, coke, etc.

The Tructractor is specially designed to work in narrow aisles and in confined spaces, as its maximum overall width with steel wheels is only 4 ft. 5 ins. The appliance is well designed and well made and is calculated to put up a very satisfactory performance, its fuel consumption being about one gallon to 12 miles.
