Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Renault is launching 14 new Manager, Major and Magnum model variants in the UK. All mid-lift models have a non-steering lift axle. The Manager tractive unit is rated at 38 tonnes GCW; the two Manager rigids are both rated at 26 tonnes GVW. The rigids will give Renault a twinsteer chassis for municipal operators and a 6x2 drawbar chassis.

Manager options now include a PetReg pack; ECAS electronically controlled rear axle air suspension becomes standard on three-axle models and optional on others.

New to the Major tractive unit models is the 12-litre Renault ACE engine from the Magnum, producing 305kW (409hp) at 2,000rpm and 1,980Nm (1,460lbft) at 1,200rpm. ECAS is standard on all 6x2s and ASR traction control is now fitted to all 4x2 and 6x2 Majors.

Both heavy haulers come with a Renault double-drive two-spring bogie. The 120tonne GCW model driveline includes a Renault 18-speed synchromesh gearbox with oil cooler and twin 400mm asbestos-lined clutch plates. Telma electrical retarders are available as an option.

The 150-tonne GCW models have a 16-speed ZF 16S 220 gearbox with integral hydraulic retarder, WSK 400 torque convertor and a chassis mounted oil cooler. All Majors except the heavy haulers are fitted with a new ZF steering box and an air management kit on Turboliner cabbed mod els. The Turboliner cab is standard on 385 and 420 models and optional on 340s. A Highliner cab is standard on all 340s; 4x2s weigh 25kg less thanks to re-designed air suspension bracketry.

Apart from the new liftaxle models, the Magnum range benefits from a number of specification improvements.

The 4x2s gain a sun-roof, fridge and steel 400 and 550-litre fuel tanks-520s also get a trip computer, aluminium fuel tanks and 14m3/min air compressor. All tag-axle models are fitted with 400 and 250-litre fuel tanks; mid-lift models are fitted with 390 and 200litre tanks.

A range of modifications to 4x2 385 and 420 models results in a weight saving of 120kg, while 4x2 520s are 100kg lighter.
