Last week's sale includes coach stations at Birmingham (Digbeth), Leeds and Manchester. Victoria Coach Station in London functions as a separate subsidiary of NBC and is in the process of being sold to London Regional Transport.
The National Bus subsidiary owns very few coaches itself and about 950 ot its liveried coaches are provided by 60 contracting companies. Local operators tended to run coaches on a network of established routes, marketed and controlled by the National Express group.
