for an international licence had to be adjourned after the company's representative walked out and failed to return.
Quarry Garage (Branton) of Branton, near Doncaster, was applying for a licence for eight vehicles and five trailers before North Eastern Deputy Licensing Authority Norman Moody. The company's nominated transport manager was Roy Smith.
No one was present when the case was due to begin at 10.30am, so another case was brought forward. During that hearing, which lasted into the afternoon, a representative of the company arrived. He left later without explaining why, said Moody.
Because one of the matters before him was so serious, he adjourned the application to give the company representative another chance to attend. If the company was not represented then, the hearing would go on without it.
Moody asked for a memorandum of conviction to be obtained showing Smith's conviction on three charges relating to the forgery of MoT certificates. It was denied that these offences had occurred.
