I ENJOYED the rare spectable of the Freight Transport Association wooing the Road Haulage Association with the blinds up. What's more, it chose February 29, the Leap Year day on which a woman may by tradition propose to a man, for public dalliance.
Boldly suggesting that "the RHA does not believe that [EEC] reference tariffs actually help in any way to set the market price," the ETA sought through the unusual device of a press notice to win the association's hand in a campaign to abolish them. Demurely, the RHA won't say yes and it won't say no. Pleading time to think, it has drawn down the blinds and its suitor waits without.
