I The 36-ton test vehicle which David rown Gear Industries are using to test eir new type 08-750 gearbox has now )mpleted 100,000 miles satisfactorily, in St 14 months. Study of the test results )tained to date has confirmed, writes ibb Grace, that an eight-speed, rangeLange unit with a fast effective gear Lange is equal in performance to units wing a higher number of gear changes. When the current phase of the test programme finishes at 120,000 miles, the unit will be fitted in an operator's vehicle to complete 250,000 miles.
The 08-750 gearbox has been released for full production and will be available from May 1972 onwards. Both ERF and Seddon-Atkinson have placed orders for the new gearbox and deliveries will begin soon.
