Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A few newcomers are to be admitted to Anglo/Italian road haulage. This follows last month's announcement by John Peyton, Minister for Transport Industries, of a small overall increase in the available Italian permits. Interested operators should obtain the necessary application form from the Northern Traffic Area office, Newcastleupon-Tyne, to which it should be returned by April 10 at the latest.

The DoE hopes that it will be possible to announce the results of these applications by the end of April but this depends largely upon the number of applications received. Successful firms will receive a small block allocation of permits to cover the remainder of the year.

The block allocation system already in force for France and Germany is to be extended to cover operators already established in Anglo/Italian road haulage. Those firms will receive letters from the Northern Traffic Area office during the latter part of April telling them the number of Italian permits allocated to them for the remainder of the quota year.
