Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

wheeled rigids to articulated outfits because the present gross weight of 22 tons named by several manufacturers will shortly be put up to 24 tons. With the introduction of the decimal system l suggest we may see 25 tons gross weight in a short time. Have you any comments?

AManufacturers are already offering trac

tive units which can be used with singleaxle semi-trailers at up to 24 tons gross weight but we see no prospect of these three-axle articulated outfits being uprated to 25 tons. There is the possibility that ultimately gross weight limits will be raised again but not for some years.

Until the end of 1967 it will not be necessary to plate tractive units for 24 tons as long as they are operated with tandem-axle semitrailers but now that three-axle artics are allowed to gross 24 tons, the tractive unit in such an outfit needs a plate.
