DESPITE last week's union pleas, Mr. Michael Stewart, Economics Minister, has gone ahead with an order under the Prices and Incomes Act restricting pay increases for 80 workers in Birmingham Corporation Transport Department.

Under the order the Corporation will not be able to pay the men more than they were getting before July 20 last year without the consent of Mr. Ray Gunter, Minister of Labour.

Just before the freeze, the Corporation agreed to a 15 per cent pay rise for the men, back-dated to August 1965.
