Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BR1TAIN is well represented at the Amsterdam Show, which opened yesterday and closes on April 7. Products of 16 vehicle makers are staged, the types shown covering all phases of road transport from speedy local deliveries to heavy long-distance haulage. The passenger field, too, is well covered by representative types of chassis.

In addition to A.E.C.. Maudslay and Seddon vehicles inside the Show, Kemper E. N. Van Twist Diesel N.V., Bij de Spoorsbrug Schiedam, has an A.E.C. Regal Mark IV, with coach body by Park Royal, outside the exhibition for demonstration purposes. In the Regal Mark IV chassis, the A.E.C. 9.6-litre fiat oil engine is mounted under the floor, and with its pilot-injection system, the quietness of running is marked. An A.E.C. Regal Mark III chassis forms the basis of a second coach with Verheul coachwork. Also shown is a Regal Mark III in chassis form.

The A E.C. Matador tractor on view is powered by the makers 11.3-litre oil engine, which develops 150 b.h.p. at 1,800 r.p.m. It gives a torque of 505 lb.-ft. at 1,000 r.p.rn.

Two Maudslay models are included in this exhibit, one being a Marathon bus chassis and the, other a' Mustang twin-steered six-wheeler. An example of 'the Mustang is available for demon. stration outside the exhibition.

The third make of vehicle shown by this agent is the Seddon, of which there are examples of a passenger chassis and two goods chassis. Features of the Seddon tractor on view are a five-speed overdrive gearbox and an Eaton two' speed axle. The exhibitor also stages a range of Perkins oil engines.

The Austin Motor Co., Ltd., is showing 11 .models, the lighter types, with Countryman, pick-tip and van bodies, being based on the A.40 private-car chassis. At the other end of the scale, there are four 5-ton chassis, one of which is for passenger work. In the intermediate class come the Austin

chass:s 25-cwt. boxvan and an ambulance based on a similar type of chassis.

Through its agent; Comm. .Ven. Albatros, Pieter Baststraat 19-27: Amsterdam, Albibn Motors, Ltd., ..is represented by s.ix models, three in chassis form, the others being complete outfits. The FT.39 Victor .passenger chassis is shown with a Dutch-built coach body, whilst the FT.3AL goods chassis has a van body also built in Holland. Other Albion models on the stand include an FT.37 Chieftain, an FT.39 Victoi and a CX,31, all in chassis form, .the exhibit being completed. by an .FT.30

Autobednijf Ten Hoeve, The Hague, distributor in Holland for Commer and Karrier vehicles, is showing five Commer models and an example of the Karrier Yorkshire gullyemptier. The gullyemptier, incidentally, is for delivery to the municipality at Zeist.

The Commer 4-ton and . 7-ton models have Eaton two-speed axles. The 4-tonner is powered by a Perkins P6 oil engine, whilst the 7-tonner has the maker's underfloor petrol engine, a six-cylirtdered o.h.v. unit developing a maximum of 109 b.h.p.

The Dodge display is in the hands of Louwman and Parqui, Lehstraat 1-5, The Hague, which concern is also responsible for the bodywork on the Dodge chassis shown. The two exhibits comprise a model 105 5-ton 13-ft. 9-in. wheelbase chassis, and a model 125 6-ton chassis having a sintila r wheelbase.

Four vehicles are shown by the Ford

Motor, Co., Ltd., th-ne being 5-cwt. and 10-cwt. vans, a Fordson Thames 2-ton chassis, and a Fordson Thames chassis, of 13-ft. I-in, wheelbase, with cab. This exhibit is sponsored by the Ford distributor, N. V. Nederiansche, Ford Automobiel Fabriek.

The Guy Arab chassis exhibited is 8 ft. wide and has been buil. specially for operating conditions in Holland. In addition to this Arab chassis, there is an Otter bus chassis with Gardner 4LK oil engine, a bus based on a Vixen chassis, an Otter goods chassis with Gardner 4LK oil engine, and a Vixen truck. The bodies shown on these vehicles were made in Holland.

Jowett Cars, Ltd., has on view a complete range of Bradford vehicles.

On the Krombout stand two Leyland chassis and three Leyland engines are shown. Both chassis are of the Comet class. One is an example of the EPCOIL passenger type, and the other an ECOIL goods chassis, the latter being complete

with cab. The ECOIL is fitted with an Eaton two-speed rear axle.

Of the three engines on view, the 0300 is shown in sectioned form, whilst the other two—a P300, and a 0600 designed for flat mounting—are normal units, Further Leyland models are to be seen on the stand occupied by Verheut, the well-known Dutch coachbuilding concern. Both are full-fronted designs, one vehicle being based on a Comet chassis and the other on a Leyland Tiger chassis. The coachwork in both cases is by the exhibitor.

N V. Autra is showing a Holland vehicle both in chassis form and as a complete vehicle. The Holland chassis is built in that country. the engine and transmission units being of Leyland manufacture.

A neat Morris-Commercial 10-cwt. van of the .I type. a 25-30-cwt. chassis, two 5tanners and an oil-engined passenger chassis complete with bus body, are shown by Messrs. J. J. Molenaars Automobielbedrijf, who are responsible for staging the exhibits of the Nuffield Organisation. Also to be seen on this stand are a sectioned Morris-Commercial Saurer oil engine, and examples of Morris 5-cwt. and 10-cwt. delivery vans.

A standard 7-8-ton chassis with cab, and a four-cylindered horizontal-type oil engine, are shown by the. Dutch agent for Sentinel (Shrewsbury), Ltd.

Only one Thornycroft model is exhibited, this being an example of the Trident RUN/CRIS chassis, complete with cab. The Trident, which is powered by a Thornycroft six-cylindered oil engine developing a maximum of 75 b.h.p., is rated for a maximum gross load of 12 tons. Of the normal-control type, it is arranged for left-hand drive, and has a wheelbase of 13 ft. 6 ins. The cab on this model is of composite construction, its outstanding 'features being its extreme roominess and the'degree of visibility provided. This exhibit is staged by H. C. L. Sieburg, N.V., Stadhouderskade 143, Amsterdam.
