• A Cardiff man who had been operating from the same site for 20 years until his company went into liquidation, has had his application for a licence in the name of a new company blocked for the time being by an objection from a Mr and Mrs Lincoln, the land owners.

A & A Salvage (Cardiff) had applied for a new national licence for two vehicles and two trailers from Leckwith Bridge Yard, Leckwith, Cardiff. Managing director Edward Young told a Cardiff public inquiry that he had been in transport for 45 years. He had operated from the land at Leckwith for more than 20 years.

South Wales Traffic Commissioner John Mervyn Pugh was told that the Lincolns were taking legal action to obtain possession of the site.

Adjourning the hearing, Mervyn Pugh said that he was in a difficult position and all he could do was to adjourn the proceedings until after the outcome of the court case. If the company had no legal right to be at Leckwith Bridge, it could not be a suitable site for its operating centre.
