GOVERNMENT guidance over gross weights is needed if the British heavy vehicle makers are not to lose out in the European market, warned Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders president David Plastow last week.
Speaking at the annual lunch of the SMMT council he warned: "I fear that by procrastination we will lose a market which we will then spend half a decade trying to recover."
Mr Plastow told members that the Government should avoid being insular when it came to dealing with the EEC.
