Until this month training standards in the road transport sector were devised and monitored by the RFiDTC, previously recognised as a National Training Organisation for the road-freight sector. With the dissolution of the larger Nit) network, a smaller number of Sector Skill Councils will be established. One of these, Skills For Logistics, was formally inaugurated on 17 July 2003. SFL, which is ajoint venture between FA, RHA, BAR and several trades unions, will gradually assume the role of the RHDTC, with wider responsibilities for logistics training across all transport modes.
A revised draft of the European Driver Training Directive (training unlikely to start before around 2009) Mt establish a new Certificate of Professional Competence for drivers, which will define the skills required and establish an agreed programme of refresher training.
Anyone who passed their National CPC by means of the multiple-choice exams (le pm-case study) have only until June 2004 to add an International CPC. After June 2004 they will have to retake their National before doing the International.

The Official RoadSense CHO from DSA (615.99) contains a multiple-choice quiz for each category of vehicle, interactive hazard perception clips, hot tips for PCV, WV and motorcyclists and includes links to useful websites.
