• A Cheshire operator who admitted that he was unable to afford to maintain his vehicle has lost his licence.
Mohammed Shoaib, trading as Corner Market, of Sale, appeared at a Trafford disciplinary inquiry before North Western Deputy Traffic Commissioner Patrick Mulvenna.
Vehicle examiner Colin Waddelove said that Shoaib had been granted August. I ie inspected the vehicle in April, issuing an immediate prohibition. Despite that the vehicle was used the following day with three loose wheelnuts.

Previous attempts to inspect the vehicle had failed due to Shoaib's lack of co-operation, said Waddelove. When the vehicle was presented for clearance, three serious brake defects were found, and no inspection records could be produced.
Shoaib had made little attempt to comply with the maintenance requirements, said Waddelove, and the vehicle was in a dangerous condition. He added that the vehicle was being parked at an unauthorised site in a residential area in Bolton.
Asked why the vehicle had been found to be in such a condition, Shoaib said that the maintenance contractor had been very expensive and he could not afford to pay him.
