Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AT gatherings such as the Institute of Public Cleansing vehicle demonstration, both manufacturers and prospective purchasers have a factual approach to the task in hand and million-dollar talk such as one encounters in the glossy surroundings of, say, Earls Court, is conspicuous by its absence. All the same, the volume of business that arises is considerable. One of the exhibitors, who has participated in these gatherings for a considerable period, told me that over the years there had never been an instance when his business, directly traceable to the exhibition, has fallen below 20,000.

Good attendances are the rule at the business sessions of the conference but one sees no better cross-section of those present than at the reception given by Shelvoke and Drewry Ltd. Looking down from the balcony at thc cabaret, my guess was that there were at least 600 in the Winter Gardens on that occasion. Later, Mr. J. L.. Wilkinson told me that the actual attendance was in the region of 750 and he reckoned there would be few who would not he attracted into the hall for the show at that particular time!
