Flexible Closure for Driclad Container ANEW interlocking flexible closure is being 'manufactured by C. and C. Marshall Ltd., of St. Leonards, Sussex, to provide a nearly impeimeable closure for the moisture proof flexible material used in the Driclad packing system of Export Packing Services Ltd.

The Driclad system provides an effective barrier against moisture and corrosion for a wide.range of equipment in transit or storage. Normally, to ensure complete climatic protection, air is exhausted from the containers and suitable desiccants placed inside absorb any moisture that might form after the cover is closed.

The closure section consists of a pair of interlocking P.V.C. extrusions. Each extrusion has a continuous slot along its lower edge to which the barrier material is welded. The system enables an endless closure to be used so that the size and shape of the object to be packed presents no problems.

For individual packaging jobs the extrusions are cut in he required lengths and sealed with a p.v.c. cap at each end prior to welding to the harrier material. Longitudinal grooves running externally along the sides carry a specially designed slide which opens or closes the section. As well as providing a moisture proof closure the extrusions provide a simple means of access for inspection and servicing.

Solid Tyre from Dunlop ABOOKLET is now obtainable from the Dunlop Rubber Co. Ltd., which gives details of the company's new solid tyre— the Dunlop Trukush. The Trukush is a special-purpose, offthe-road solid tyre designed for use on slow-moving vehicles on rough sites, where pneumatic lyres would tend to puncture and tear. Blends of rubber and textile strands in the body of Trukush tyres make them suitable for the direct replacement of pneumatic equipment. Short cords are distributed at random throughout the compound which check tearing, and the cords are in sufficient quantity to form a fibrous or lattice type of structure within the solid rubber. This tends to reduce deformation under load and provides high load-carrying capacity. The tyres are not suitable for high-speed usage.

The booklet gives detailed information (with illustrations) on the fitting of the tyres. Copies are available from the company on request.
