LEYLAND S FOR EARTHQUAKE TOWN: Gradsko Saobracajno Preduzece (Skopje Municipal Transport) has ordered 55 Leyland Worldmaster LERT 1/1 underfloor-eng:Med bus chassis for service in the Yugoslav town ravaged by last year's earthquake The new buses will have 34-ft.-long bodies, 30 to be built in Britain and 25 to be constructed locally. Three doors will be fittro to these I00-passenger vehicles, seating being provided for 23 passengers only. A feature of the chassis will be a hill-holding devtx incorporated in. the four-speed, semiautomatic Pneumocyche gearbox to provide a smooth pull away from stops on steep inclines A.E.C, ENGINES FOR FRANCE: Orden to the value of £21,000 have been placed with A.E.C. Ltd. for AV470 144 b,h.p. engines and six-speed, overdrive, constant-mesh gearboxes. The contract is from the Society des Automobiles et Materieles Verney, Le Mans, to be fitted in buses which Verney supply. SIMON SNORKEL FOR TASMANIA: Simon Engineering Dudley Ltd. has received an order from the Launceston Fire Brigade, Tasmania, for a Snorkel Firefly DS 50 firefighting unit. The Firefly is a smaller version of the 65-ft. Simon • Snorkel, with a maximum reach of 50 ft. The unit for Tasmania, ordered 'through the company's newly appointed agents in Australasia, Worrnald Bros. (Australia) Pty. Ltd., Port Melbourne, Victoria, will be mounted on a Bedford vehicle with bodywork constructed by H. C. B. Angus Ltd., Totton, Southampton.

NEW COACHES FOR B.O.A.C.: Two 36-ft. A.E.C. Reliance coaches with Harrington Grenadier 51-seat bodies have been introduced by British Overseas Airways Corporation to ferry passengers between Glasgow and Prestwick Airport.
