AN interesting development in the international sphere is the European Institute for Vocational Training. The Institute has in fact been in existence since 1962, but it is only in the last six months or so that it has really made an effort to hold meetings on a European basis. At present the Institute is actively supported by Western Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland. The Institute is curreittly conducting a detailed review of the organization of vocational training for road traniport in West European countries. The object of this review is to collate information which can he studied and which can form the basis for concrete recommendations for improvements. the information obtained from the survey; special attention will be given to the vocational training available for ail grades of employees in the road transport industry, the method by which vocational training is financed and the means of entry to the executive grades of the road

haulage industry. The Institute hopes that its conference will be attended by leading figures connected with transport education. in Europe as well as by appropriate Government representatives.
