last Friday the South Eastern Traffic Commissioners granted permission to Hants and Dorset Motor Services Ltd. to introduce a 10s. day out" ticket. The chairman, Mr. H. J. Thom, congratulated the company on offering a new holiday facility.
Objections from a number of independent concerns in the Bournemouth, Southampton and Salisbury areas were withdrawn following discussions with Hants and Dorset on safeguards for existing excursion and tours operations. For the applicant, Mr. S. Bartlett, traffic manager, told the Commissioners that all journeys would be made on stage carriage services and that no special buses would be put on.
The day out" ticket (available at 5s. for children under 14) may be used on all the company's stage carriage services on the day of issue, including those operated jointly with Wilts and Dorset Motor Services Ltd. and the Southern National Omnibus Co. Ltd. It is hoped to have the new ticket on sale next month.
