MARPLES does not at present • M intend to propose further regulations for controlling fumes from diesel engines. He said this in the Commons this week when he pointed out that it might be difficult to prescribe control standards as the nuisance of smoke from diesels was on some occasions mainly by its density and on others mainly by its volume. The Ministry, he added, was working on a specification for new diesel engines which would include provision against smoke.
