AT the Minister's invitation, leaders of goods vehicle operator associations were due to meet Mr. Marples yesterday to discuss the summer " blitz " of roadside vehicle checks which he has initiated. Invited were Mr. A. R. Butt, national chairman of the Road Haulage Association, Mr. K. C. Turner, president of the Traders Road Transport Association, and Mr. T. C. Gil*, vice-chairman and managing &rector of the B.R.S. Federation.
Mr. Marnles announced his intention to hold such a meeting when he was present at one of the London checkpoints earlier this month.
