Following the announcement made last week by the Government, the Ministers of Labour and Transport have now appointed the members of a committee which is to consider the regulation of wages in the goods road. transport industry. The members of the committee are Sir James 13. Baillie (chairman), Sir Gerald Bellhouse, and Mr. John Forster. Mr. H. R. Hodges,. of the Ministry of Labour, has been appointed secretary, and the assistant secretary is Mr. R. R. Goodison, of the Ministry of Transport. The terms of reference to the committee are to examine the position with • regard to the regulation of wages and conditions of goods-transport employees. The position of drivers and attendants working on vehicles operating under A, B or C licences is to be considered.
