Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FROM the Place de la Concorde. Paris, last week 23 vehicles started on their three weeks' journey through northern France and Belgium. The vehicles participating in the tried are as varied in their nature as are the fuels employed, and the column presented a somewhat bizarre appearance as it rolled slowly out of Paris. Fine touring cars alternated with heavy lorries and the size of the vehicles ranged from a tiny 5 h.p. Peugeot up to fullsized Paris omnibuses. The route and objects of the trial, which will be in progress until the end of this month, have already been mentioned in The Commercial Motor, and a detailed report will be published. The following vehicles are taking part:—

Two standard Paris omnibuses entered by the municipal omnibus eracorn known as the T.C.R.P. Both buses are mounted on pneumatics and are running 'Ca compressed gas.

Two Renault lorries, fitted with the Renault gas-producer. Two De Dion 2i-ton lorries. One fitted with the Rex generator using earbonite compressed-fuel tablets and the other fitted with a Gepea gas-pro ducer using charcoal. , One 4-ton Aries lorry, fitted with S.A.G.A.M. generator using briquettes of lignite.

One 4-ton Renault lorry, fitted with S.A.G.A.M. generator using lignite briquettes.

One Bovy lorry, using synthetic petrol, entered by the Societe Centrale des Flandres.

One 20 h.p. Mors vehicle, using wood fuel in.a S.E.P.T. gas-producer.

One Bovy lorry, entered by the Societe du Gas Catalytique, using synthetic petrol.

One light Aries van, with S.A.G.A.M. generator using wood fuel.

One 7-ton .Dewald lorry, with Rex generator using earbonite pellet..

One Citroen car, using methylie alcohol synthetic fuel, entered by. the Cie des Mines de Bethune. One touring car, using benzole, entered by the Mines d'Aniche.

One motor omnibus, entered by the Compagnie Lilloise des Moteurs, using heavy oil fuel.

One 4-ton Panhard lorry, with Panhard charcoal gas enerator.

One 2i-ton lorry, entered by the Corapagnie Lilloise des Moteurs, using heavy oil.

One Citroen, using Carburaut National (half-and-half mixture of petrol and commercial alcohol), entered by the Syndicat de la Distellerie Agricole.

One 5 h.p. Peugeot, using benzole.

One 40 h.p. Renault, fitted with Ifydroyygaz generator, entered by the Ste. Miniere Franco-Belge.

One 18 h.p. Peugeot car, fitted with lIydroxygaz generator.

One 2-ton Renault lorry, using ben sole, entered by Ste. du Gaz de Paris.

One touring ear, using Nabol fuel.

One Rochet-Sehneider lorry, using heavy oil, entered by the Societe du Thermo Dynamique.
