Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The two extremes among the extensive exhibits of Alldays and Onions are the 35-40 h.p. five-ton chassis and the 8 h.p. 5-cwt. de pry van. The latter is quite a pleasing little machine for small tradesmen. It has a twin-cylinder engine, a three-speed-and-reverse gearbox, a good worm-driven live bank axle, and cantilever spring suspension for the front. axle. All its units have been most carefully designed with a view to producing a really sound

commercial vehicle of small load capacity, and it is shown complete and ready for the road at £130. The five-ton chassis is an entirely dif

ferent proposition. it is a most massively-built machine, and.obvi ously intended for the heaviest class of work. Its four-cylinder engine has the cylinders east in pairs, with the valves arranged on one side, and a most unusual feature in its construction is the mounting of the very large-diameter centrifugal water pump at the back end of the engine, above but at one side of the centre of the flywheel. This arrangement admits of a much bigger pump than usual, but it naturally. entails the use of a very long suction pipe, but as this is of quite large diameter there can be no serious objection to its use. A Ferodo-lined cone clutch and a four-speed-and-reverse gearbox, with a substantial differential countershaft. and final drive through side chains to the back wheels are among the well-tried features of this model. Facing the five-ton chassis is a 25-30 h.p. delivery van for the G.P.O. Stores Department. The next van to claim attention is a well-finished 16-20 h.p. delivery van, which is lined up between the G.P.O. van and a, 25 ii.p. chain-driven model with high-sided tipping van body. A 35-40 h.p. brewer's wagon is also staged, and among the smaller models is a 12-14 Ii. p. bevel-driven delivery van mounted on pneumatic tires. Last, but by no means least, is a very smart '30-35 h.p. torpedo char-h-banes, pleasing to the eye in French grey; with maroon upholstery.
