Representative Types of Modern Motoreabs and Light Van Chassis.

This exhibit consists of a Renault taxicab and a chassis. It is well known, of course, that Robert Bell, Ltd., is sole eoncessionnaire for the United Kingdom for this type of vehicle and selling agent for Charrons. Daimlers, L.G.O.C., and Unics. A full description of the latest Renault taxicab was given in these columns quite recently. The four-cylinder engine is cast en bloc, and the well-known type of Renault radiator is, of course, incorporated, allowing for the distinctive form of bonnet which is so familiar, The suspension of the gearbox is a feature of this machine, the unit being mounted on a pressed-steel subframe consisting of two transverse and two laterally-disposed members, so that extremely short, and stout legs are east on the casing for

bolting it up. A foot accelerator is fitted, and a noteworthy feature is that. the hand throttle control,

which is fitted to the dashboard, is inter-connected with the ignition, so that upon closing the throttle, the ignition is at the same time switched off. The live axle, of the bevel-gear type, is totally enclosed in a built-up east-steel casing and high tensile-steel tubes. A refinement is provided in the fitting of an adjustment to take up wear on the bevel gearing. The price of the chassis without tires is 2290. The finished model, the bodywork of which is by Christopher Dodson, and is dark blue with black mouldings, is a very fine example of the taxicab-landaulet type of machine. '1 hese machines can be had on a cash or hire-purchase basis. R. Bell. Ltd., has brought this branch of business to a state of high perfection, as many owner-drivers testify.
